10 years since the consumerist musings of Tesco, Matthew Herbert reanimates his
Wishmountain project and heads deep underground to find the source material for
Stonework: 1000 metres down.

Musically, Stonework is consistent terrain for Wishmountain – austere and forbidding
in one sense, playful and irreverent in another. But from a club music perspective,
which Wishmountain absolutely is, it offers DJs a variety of rhythmic formations within
the tool-like minimalism of the arrangements, opening up intriguing possibilities for
mixing into, out of, or somewhere in between. For every 4/4 thrust and jerk there is a
fractured, snaking meditation pivoting around other time signatures.
